The new study by Salesforce.org showcases how nonprofits are building new data strategies, investing in technology, and achieving fundraising goals. We all know how every industry had to reimagine the way it operated after the pandemic. And nonprofits are no different. Even then, it has been found that nonprofits surpassed their fundraising goals in the past year- the first finding is from the 2021 Nonprofit Trends Report.

Methodology: Salesforce interviewed nearly 1,250 respondents around the world for this report on the current status of nonprofits.

So, let’s know the top findings from the third edition of the Salesforce Nonprofit Trends Report!

Technology needs and access changed fundraising approach

It is important to bridge the gap between technology needs and access when it comes to data strategy. In this year’s report, 64% of nonprofits were in the “high digital maturity.” They also said that they were able to compare income accurately. There were 0% nonprofits in the “low digital maturity” group.

Surpassing fundraising goals with digital outreach

In this all-digital world, nonprofits that are leveraging digital platforms to know their donors are excelling. With digital platforms, nonprofits can surpass their fundraising goals, as they now have a platform for storytelling and attracting donors.

This year’s survey showed that 31% of respondents in the past 12 months provided their donors and prospective donors with online access to a dashboard that showed their donations in action. 86% of these respondents found this effort to be impactful. Also, 77% of nonprofits rate their marketing strategies and efforts to be better than their counterparts.

Investments in Cloud-based technology

22% of nonprofits fall into the “high category” in Salesforce’s digital maturity index. Whereas 72% of nonprofits come in the “medium category.” This reflects that nonprofits are getting more comfortable with technology and using it to address immediate issues.

In the last 12 months, 36% of nonprofits have invested in technology such as CRM, productivity, analytics tools, AI, and automation. These investments have helped them meet both the current and future challenges of their nonprofits

Data-driven fundraising approach

Nonprofit organizations now realize that they will have to keep a virtual strategy for fundraising in place, in addition to their in-person fundraising strategy. 76% of nonprofits expressed that they still lack a data strategy. Whereas 72% agree that donors need remote access to key impact performance metrics.
